Off-Airport Parking at Dublin Airport
Off-airport parking covers the independent car parks outside the Dublin Airport campus that run their own shuttle buses to the terminals. Until 2025, this part of the market was thin, after the largest independent site closed in 2020. Its reopening as Park2Travel restored real competition to DAA's car parks, and smaller park and ride operators in Santry and The Ward add further choice. This guide compares the main off-airport options on the factors that actually decide the experience: distance, shuttle hours and frequency, the return pick-up process, whether you keep your keys, vehicle limits and security.
The main off-airport car parks near Dublin Airport are Park2Travel in Cloghran, Metro Park and Ride at the Metro Hotel in Santry, and Newpark Park and Fly in The Ward. All three are self-park services where you keep your keys and take a shuttle to the terminals. Through us, 8 days starts from €47.99 at Newpark, €79.99 at Metro and €80.99 at Park2Travel.
Off-airport parking is often cheaper than DAA's on-airport car parks, but shuttle hours, frequency and return arrangements vary much more between operators. Park2Travel is the largest and closest, with a 24-hour shuttle of about 6 minutes every 12 minutes. Check these details before you book, especially for early or late flights.

Park2Travel
Park2Travel is the anchor of the off-airport market. Run by APCOA on the former QuickPark site, it reopened in March 2025 with more than 6,100 spaces, comparable in scale to DAA's own long-stay car parks. Its free shuttle runs 24 hours a day, every 12 minutes, and takes about six minutes to reach the terminals.
Three features set it apart: a short, frequent 24-hour shuttle, a 3-hour grace period for late returns and an entrance height of 4.40 metres. It can also arrange EV charging on request. Its main quirk is a single return pick-up point outside Terminal 1, so passengers landing at Terminal 2 must walk across. For the full operational detail, read our Park2Travel Dublin Airport review.
Metro Park and Ride
Metro Park and Ride operates from the Metro Hotel Dublin Airport at Santry Cross on the Ballymun Road, about two miles from the terminals. It is a self-park service in an underground car park, with CCTV and barrier entry, and you keep your car keys. Covered parking is a genuine advantage in winter.
The transfer takes about eight minutes. The important difference is the shuttle schedule: listings show it running from about 04:00 to 23:45 rather than around the clock, with no service at certain times of day. On your return, you call the hotel once you have collected your luggage, then wait at Zone 16 for collection. For late-night arrivals after the last shuttle, you will need an alternative such as a taxi.
The entrance gate has a 2.1 metre height limit. Some sources indicate a per-person charge for the hotel shuttle, so confirm whether transfers are included in your booking.
Newpark Park and Fly
Newpark Park and Fly is based at The White House, Newpark, in The Ward, about a 10 to 12 minute drive from the airport. On arrival, you check in at the car park reception, park in a free space, keep your keys and take the free transfer shuttle, which runs 24 hours a day, every 30 minutes, and drops you at Zone 16, the Coach Park.
The site lists floodlighting, CCTV, perimeter fencing and entry and exit barriers. On return, go to Zone 16 after collecting your luggage and call the car park, and the driver will take you back to your car. Its distance and 30-minute interval make it the slowest of the three main options, and a worst-case wait plus journey can exceed 40 minutes. It suits travellers whose priority is price and who have flexible timings.

How Does Off-Airport Park and Ride Work?
You pre-book, drive to the car park, park your own car and keep your keys, then take the operator's shuttle bus to the terminal. On your return, you go to the operator's designated pick-up point, or call for collection, and the shuttle takes you back to your car.
- Book in advance. Pre-booking secures a space and the best rate. Make sure the registration on your booking is correct, because several operators use number plate recognition.
- Drive to the car park. Use the operator's Eircode or exact address, not the airport's.
- Park and note your location. Record your zone, row or bus stop number before leaving the car.
- Take the shuttle. Shuttles drop you at the terminal departures area or the Coach Park.
- Return and collect. Go to the operator's pick-up point, or call if required, and the shuttle returns you to the car park.
DAA's shuttle buses do not collect passengers for external car parks. You must use your car park's own shuttle and know where it collects from.
Where Do Off-Airport Shuttles Collect You at Dublin Airport?
Each operator uses its own pick-up point. Park2Travel collects from Zone 9 outside Terminal 1. Metro Park and Ride and Newpark Park and Fly collect from Zone 16, the Coach Park, after you call. Always check your booking confirmation for the exact zone.
This is where off-airport parking most often goes wrong. Shuttle zones at Dublin Airport are numbered, and several operators share the same areas, including DAA's own long-stay buses. Before you travel, save the pick-up zone, the operator's phone number and the collection procedure on your phone.
| Operator | Return pick-up | Action required |
|---|---|---|
| Park2Travel | Zone 9, outside Terminal 1 (serves both terminals) | Walk to the stop. From T2, follow signs for T1 |
| Metro Park and Ride | Zone 16 | Call the hotel after collecting luggage |
| Newpark Park and Fly | Zone 16 (Coach Park) | Call the car park after collecting luggage |
| Clayton Hotel park and fly | Zone 16 | Scheduled 24-hour shuttle |
Is Off-Airport Parking Cheaper Than Parking at Dublin Airport?
Often, but not always. Ireland's competition regulator found in 2025 that Park2Travel was on average 21% cheaper than DAA's Express Red and 3.6% cheaper than Holiday Blue. Smaller park and ride operators can be cheaper still: through us, Newpark starts from €47.99 for 8 days, against €64.99 at Holiday Blue.
The CCPC's June 2025 analysis is the most authoritative evidence on off-airport pricing at Dublin. It concluded that consumers were benefiting from more choice, greater supply and lower prices after it blocked DAA's purchase of the former QuickPark site in 2024. The regulator had found that the deal would have left DAA owning over 90% of the public car parking spaces serving the airport. Our own checks for 2026 and 2027 dates found DAA's Holiday Blue below Park2Travel's own prices, so compare your specific dates.
| Car park | 4 days | 8 days |
|---|---|---|
| Park2Travel | From €46.99 | From €80.99 |
| Metro Park and Ride | From €33.99 | From €79.99 |
| Newpark Park and Fly | Search your dates | From €47.99 |
Our lowest year-round price for each stay length. Prices vary by date and are higher during school holidays, Christmas and summer. Search your dates for the live price.
For comparison, DAA's drive-up rates are €25 per day at Express Red and €20 at Holiday Blue.
Price is only part of the value equation. A cheaper car park with a 30-minute shuttle interval or no overnight service can cost more in practice if it forces you to leave home earlier or take a taxi at night. For a ranking across every option, see our main guide to Dublin Airport parking.
Choosing the Right Off-Airport Car Park
| Your priority | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Flights very early or late at night | Park2Travel (or Newpark) | Both run 24/7; Park2Travel every 12 minutes, Newpark every 30 |
| Shortest transfer | Park2Travel | About 6 minutes, every 12 minutes |
| Covered parking in winter | Metro Park and Ride | Underground car park |
| High-top van or campervan | Park2Travel | 4.40 m entrance; Metro's gate is 2.1 m |
| Delay-prone return flight | Park2Travel | 3-hour overstay grace period |
| Lowest price, flexible timings | Newpark Park and Fly | Lowest 8-day price in our checks; slower 30-minute shuttle |
What to Check Before Booking Any Off-Airport Car Park
- Shuttle hours: confirm the shuttle runs at the times of both your departure and your return.
- Shuttle frequency: a 30-minute interval can add more than half an hour to your journey in the worst case.
- Return procedure: do you walk to a stop, or call for collection? Which zone?
- Shuttle charges: confirm whether transfers are included in the price.
- Vehicle height: check the entrance or gate height for vans, campervans and roof boxes.
- Overstay and cancellation terms: these vary much more between independent operators than between DAA car parks.
- Distance: some lesser-known operators are much further from the airport than their names suggest. Check the address and drive time, not just the price.
Hotel Park and Fly
Several hotels near the airport also offer parking with a shuttle, either as parking only or bundled with an overnight stay. Compare them in our guide to Dublin Airport hotel parking.
